PRE FIRM VS. POST FIRM:

There are two types of elevated buildings. Pre Firm and Post Firm. See below for DEFINATION AND COVERAGES. Restrictions do not apply if you property is in an X, C or D FIRM zone (Check your policy). To determine your FIRM date click on this link and follow the instructions. For $2.95 you can easily print out a FIRM map for your address.

BUILDING COVERAGE POST FIRM:

If you do have a Post Firm elevated building in a SFHA there is no coverage for drywall, doors, windows, siding, sheathing or contents below the lowest elevated floor. Most insurance companies only allow for minimal clean up.

BUILDING COVERAGE PRE FIRM:
If you have a Pre Firm elevated building there are no restrictions.

ATTACHED GARAGE COVERAGE POST FIRM:
If you have an attached garage there also the same limited coverage as in number one. Also note contents are not covered below the lowest elevated floor.
