Basements

DEFINITION:
A basement is an area or room that is sub grade on all sides, and flood waters would not drain out and away from the area naturally. If it is not listed in below links, it is not covered.

BUILDING COVERAGE:
No coverage for finished floors, walls or ceilings. The only allowance is to replace with unfinished, un taped drywall. Interior doors and cabinetry also not covered. Windows and doors in the foundation are covered. There is no coverage for Sewage Grinder Pumps in basements.

CONTENTS COVERAGE:
There is no coverage for personal or business property in a basement except connected Washers, Dryers, Freezers and the food in the freezer. Refrigerator/freezers are also not covered. Note if the item in question is not on either list it is not covered. Air conditioning window units must be installed in a window to be covered. The General Property policy provides coverage for either business or personal property. If the items covered do not service your business there is no coverage, unless you are only claiming personal property.
